According to experts, there is an urgent need to discuss various facets of health in our country, given that; the healthcare sector is undergoing exciting upgrades

On Wednesday, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Western Region hosted a panel discussion on the ‘imperatives for hospitals in changing operating context’. “Globally three trends are defining the way healthcare is delivered today – the need to be more affordable, rising consumerism in the way that every consumer has a voice through social media today and technology that enables quick and better treatment,” said Sumit Goel, partner and healthcare (strategy and operations), KPMG India and  the moderator of the session.

Dr Vivek Desai, Managing Director of HOSMAC informed “Cost cutting and efficient healthcare is the need of the hour”.

Under-preparedness of healthcare like lack of beds or oxygen supply was noted by everyone at the panel. “According to few studies, hospital based mortality has gone up by four times now. Therefore, it is imperative to gain back the confidence in doctors,” said Anupam Verma, President of Wockhardt Hospitals.
