Neha Dubey, a 27-year-old working professional from Pune, went to see a dermatologist last month. On her wedding, she wanted fuller lips. The result of treatment was there to last for only one day. “You get married only once, but the pictures of the ceremony lasts for a lifetime with you. I wanted to look perfect on my wedding day and so I opted for treatment.”
Dr Shikha Nair, a dermatologist from Pune, said, “Insistence from husband or relatives or because the bride wants to get it done, are the reasons why we are seeing many cases who want to get treated for the wedding day. Treatment for dark circles, to get fuller lips, and perfect jawline is mostly asked for. We see an increase in cases during the wedding season.”
These treatments are costly. Even though, the result lasts only for a day. Cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists say that some hospitals are even coming up with packages for pre-bridal cosmetic treatment.
Dr Ujawala Dahiphale, a plastic surgeon from Mumbai, said, “We witness a spike in cases during wedding season. Today, girls are ready to take expensive treatment as they want to look good on their wedding day. Brides come to us with problems and accordingly we give them treatments. This is a new trend and is growing fast.”
