This incident has come from Jalgaon, Maharashtra. A girl from Pilkhod village in Chalisgaon taluka has been facing this unique problem. The girl who is in the 4th standard has been facing this problem for the past 2-3 days.
Her parents were also astonished and didn’t know the cause of it. They brought her to an eye doctor for treatment. Shraddha’s father brought her to Dr Amit Mahajan for treatment.
While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Mahajan stated, “Her father brought the girl to me for a check-up. He claimed that tiny stones were falling out of her eyes. When I checked her eyes, they were red but no small stones were present. I prescribed her eye drops. The father had a plastic bag with small stones in them claiming they had fallen from her daughter’s eyes. But I do not think such a thing is possible.”
A well-known eye specialist from Mumbai spoke about similar cases, he and encountered in the past and offered his insights on this case.
Dr TP Lahane, the Joint Director of Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) and a renowned ophthalmologist, said, “This incident is due to a mental illness. This is not the first such case I have come across. While working at Mumbai’s JJ Hospital. I had seen 10-12 children with stones in their eyes. But we must remember that stones cannot naturally form in the eyes.”
He added, “Through video footage of these children, I had observed what the children were doing. The children were putting small stones in their eyes. There is no reason to fear for parents. They must pay attention to their children to prevent such incidents.”
