I Gift Life, a Pune-based NGO, has developed a chatbot which will answer any type of question about organ donation. The massive database, of the things related to organ donation, is designed with the help of all transplant coordinators, and ZTCC Pune.
The chatbot will chat with the person, and answer any question asked about organ donation. The purpose is to give authentic and reliable information on a single platform.
Tejpal Singh Batra, President and also Co-founder of the NGO, said, “There are different platforms, which are giving information on organ donation. However, still, people have to go and surf different websites for clearing their doubts. With our application, all their questions can be cleared on a single platform.”
The NGO is doing the work in the field of organ donation since last two and half years in Pune.
The application is now being reviewed by coordinators and ZTCC Pune, and we are also planning to approach the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) and Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) to review it.
The application will soon be available on different public domains free for use.
Students of Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies have helped in getting the base research and questions and answers in place. The team was lead by Naina Batra. Vrinda Pusalkar, organ donation and transplant coordinator from Jehangir hospital, acted as a guide in the project.
“We have studied many laws, and have talked extensively with coordinators. The chatbot will give correct and updated information to people. We are approaching NOTTO and ROTTO so that we get their backing as well, and they also recommend people to use it,” he said.
Aarti Gokhale, a transplant coordinator at ZTCC Pune, said, “There are many misconceptions among people when it comes to organ donation. Such applications will help deliver correct information. Also, the team has done a good job doing detailed research and providing authentic information.”
