CRPF-jawan-naxal-blood-donation

Naxals and CRPF jawans have fought many times in the past and are at loggerheads with each other. But in a commendable humanitarian gesture, a CRPF constable named Rajkamal donated blood to save the life of a Naxal in Jharkhand. The encounter wherein the Naxal was wounded took place at Soma Purti in Jharkhand.

There are fierce exchanges between CRPF jawans and Naxals almost every day, fire is routinely exchanged between both sides. What makes this simple act of blood donation event more special is that no one would ever expected one person, to help the other as they are at a constant battle with each other. But this particular jawan, thought from his heart and not his head, while deciding to help the Naxal, who after all is still a human being.

The Naxal was critically injured in an encounter with 209 CoBRA troops and evacuated from the site by the same security forces he was targeting. He was admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, by the Jharkhand Police. Later, Rajkamal of the 133 Battalion donated blood to save him.

When the doctors of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, said that the wounded Naxal required blood, Constable Rajkamal volunteered his own.

This act of humanity was recognised and saluted by his fellow jawans, as well as his superiors. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sanjay Anand Lathkar has lauded the jawan for his warm-hearted gesture.

“Rajkamal said that he considered his duty to help a fellow Indian in need,” the CRPF handle said in its tweet which was accompanied by a photo of the jawan during blood transfusion.

While speaking to My Medical Manta, Inspector General, CRPF, Sanjay Latkar, said, “5 Naxalites were gunned down by the CRPF in an encounter which took place on January 29. 2 other naxals were seriously wounded. We had admitted the naxals to the hospital.  On 4th of February, the doctors informed that one of the Naxal who is injured requires B+ blood.”

He further said, “One of our jawans came forward and volunteered for the blood donation. Naxals are also part of our society. If we want to reach out to them, we have to get more close to them. So, a CRPF soldier does different kind of activities so that we can change their mind-set.”
