Vehicles damaged near Pune’s KK market area

After heavy rains in Pune, authorities have confirmed that at least twelve people have died following two days of incessant rain. The city has witnessed heavy rains since Wednesday and many parts of city are inundated with water.

The schools and colleges have been asked to remain close. Also, two NDRF teams have been asked for relief work. Earlier in the week, IMD had forecasted heavy rainfall in Mumbai and adjoining areas.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Joint Commissioner of Police, Pune, Ravindra Shisve said, “Due to heavy the rains 9 people have lost their lives in Pune. 5 people died due to a wall collapse in, and 4 other have been drowned in various parts of the city. We have received an information about 2 people getting washed away, the search and rescue operation is underway.”

Bibawewadi region has so far received 112 mm rain in just 3 hours, according to IMD officials. In Dattawadi, most of the houses near a canal had water gushing in following flash floods.

According to Pune police, 5 people from one family reported dead after a wall collapse in Sahakar Nagar, Pune.

Fire brigade teams are operating in different areas to rescue people. Officials have advised that citizens should exercise caution and should avoid going out of house.

According to Pune district administration, in Sahakar Nagar due to sudden water flow from the upstream with full force, 150 houses have been damaged. The compound wall collapsed on the road going towards these houses.
