While dengue cases are increased attempts are being made to reduce this number. The Aedes aegypti mosquito is the carrier of dengue virus and it lays its eggs in pools of stagnant fresh water.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Jairam Kothari, Nashik Municipal Corporation’s Health Department’s Medical Officer, said, “Caution is being taken so that the number of patients with dengue is does increased. For this private hospitals in the district have been asked to provide information about each patient with suspected dengue and dengue. As this helps us to understand the number of patients. Apart from this, citizens have also been alerted to take precautions to not let water collected near their potted plants or near their houses.”

Apart from dengue, the incidence of swine flu is also increasing. Doctors are seeing a rise in people with cough and cold and believe it could be a symptom of swine flu.

Maharashtra Health Minister Dr Deepak Sawant visited Nashik to take stock of the situation. As a precautionary measure people are informed to visit a doctor if their fever persists for more than 24 hours. They also been told to remain calm and not be afraid.
