The footover bridge joining the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and the Times of India lane down D.N. Road, which collapsed on March 14, was like to a vital lifeline to thousands of Mumbaikars. Each day more than 1.5 lakh passengers use this bridge to cross over the busy road to reach CST station.

Aniket Jadhav, a 20-year-old boy from Wadala is one of them. Taking the bridge to cross over to the station was part of his daily routine, which like others, he has done a number of times. But, Thursday evening was different, as Aniket was one of the passengers who had been injured in the bridge collapse accident.

Aniket has fractured his leg and has suffered a spine injury, he has been recuperating from his injuries at Mumbai’s St George hospital. Aniket narrated his traumatic experience to My Medical Mantra.

“I just cannot forget what has happened. As I began to walk down on the bridge, it collapsed. I suddenly fell on the road along with a part of the bridge, I don’t know how I managed to… but I got up and called a friend to inform him that I had been injured,” he said.

On a usual day, Aniket would normally reach home by 7:30 pm in the evening. But on Thursday, March 14, he was running a little late from work.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Aniket’s mother said, “We were worried as he didn’t reach home on time. When we were about to call him, his friend called to inform about the accident. We were shocked and immediately rushed to the hospital.”

Aniket has fractured his leg and suffered an injury on his spine as well due to the impact.
