Maha: State govt expands bike ambulance fleet

Emergency can strike anytime as one can suddenly meet with an accident or a heart attack while walking on the road. In such cases, the first one hour for the patient is important.

Ambulances take a long time to reach the congested areas in Mumbai. Even a thought of our beloved one falling sick and after that a long wait for an ambulance worries us. A few months ago, to deal with this the state government had launched bike ambulances which received a positive response from the citizens.

The state government has expanded the bike ambulance fleet. Mumbai has 10 bike ambulances, as of now

These bike ambulances will provide medical facilities at Mumbai, Pune, Palghar, Amravati and Nandurbar.

Transport minister Diwakar Raote said, “Bike ambulances play a very crucial role in providing medical services within the golden hour. In tribal areas where conventional ambulances cannot go, bike ambulances play a very important role.”

Dr Deepak Sawant, Maharashtra’s Health minister  said, “Till now bike ambulances have saved the life of 2,600 people in Mumbai. The state government is trying to expand the bike ambulance services.”
