In the meanwhile, an anticipatory bail has been filed by the absconding doctors who were booked in relation to abetting suicide of the Dr Payal Tadvi, the post-graduate medical student at Nair Hospital. The plea is likely to be heard in the Sessions Court tomorrow.

Dr Bhakti Mehare, was one of the prime accused over the suicide of medical student Dr Payal Tadvi. It is alleged that she and two other senior doctors were bullying and harassing her for a long time.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Mumbai Police, Joint Commissioner, Dr Vinay Choubey stated, “Dr Bhakti Mehare, one of the accused resident doctors has been arrested from Mumbai.”

Dr Payal Tadvi committed suicide on Wednesday, May 22. Her body was found hanging to a ceiling fan. It is alleged that three senior resident doctors used to nag her and call her names and use casteist slurs against her.

After enquiries going on at various levels, the Maharashtra Resident Doctors Association (MARD)  had found that the three resident doctors, namely Dr Hema Ahuja, Dr Bhakti Mehare, Dr Ankita Khandelwal from OBGY dept have been alleged by her relatives for harassing Dr Payal.

Even the dean of Nair Hospital, Dr Ramesh Bharwal had suspended the students.

Dr Hema Ahuja and Dr Ankita Khandelwal have filed for an anticipatory bail.
