For a politician, fitness during the election campaign plays a very important role. The day-in and the day-out campaign trail, meeting with voters, chat and strategy discussion with party workers requires a lot of stamina and physical fitness and can take a toll on the best of us.

A five times MLA from Jamner, Girish Mahajan has been running on the campaign trail across the state of Maharashtra. Along with his work, he is also passionate about maintaining his physical health and fitness. He currently holds the portfolios of Medical Education and Water Resources.

He is referred to as a ‘troubleshooter’ by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, as he helps solve his problems in times of need. While speaking to My Medical Mantra, he shares his fitness routine and what keeps him going.

“I am very passionate about my fitness. Generally, I do exercise for two hours. But, if I don’t get the time for the exercise in the morning, due to the on-going election campaign, I make sure that I do my exercise wherever I am or in the car. I have kept a piece of dumbbells in the car for that. To stay fit, exercise is a must. So, not missing out on exercise is my aim,” said Girish Majahan, Medical Education Minister, Maharashtra.

He added, “If you want to remain fit, then one must control his/her diet strictly. Exercise without following a diet will not help. During the campaign, we must stay fit, so food without oil and spicy food is completely a no-no for me. I follow the diet of the common man its nothing unusual – Chappati, vegetables and fruits, healthy food – is the mantra during the election campaign.”
