In order to promote fitness among youth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the #FitIndiaMovement on the occasion of National Sports Day.

The Prime Minister said, sports is directly related to fitness and fitness is not a word but a necessary condition of healthy and prosperous life. He said, fitness has been an integral part of life in India but over time, people have become indifferent to fitness. He said the physical activity has been reduced with the advent of technology.

Stressing the need to make fitness a mass movement, Mr. Modi said, lifestyle diseases are happening due to lifestyle disorders and it can be cured by changing lifestyle. He said many lifestyle diseases like diabetes, hypertension are increasing in India and small lifestyle changes can prevent these diseases.

He asserted that the Fit India Movement is to inspire the country for  these changes. The Prime Minister urged the people to lead the Fit India campaign saying the initiative is the need of the hour and will take the country towards a healthier future. He said the relationship of success and fitness is also interlinked and most of the success people are fit.

If gadget hygiene is not maintained, it is observed that children often suffer from insomnia and depression. Valuable family time will help you to overcome your smartphone addiction.

Apart from spending time with your family, taking a break from your mobile and venturing outdoors can do wonders for your health.

Electronic gadgets such as tablets, iPhones, iPads, mobiles phones have become addiction among children. Children as young as two years old are expertly using these devices which is having an adverse impact on their mental and physical health.

Parents must be cautious and not handover their own devices to their children to distract them when they are busy. Spending more time with family and less time on phone can help save your child from many health problems. Playing sports or some form of activity can help bring in discipline in your child’s life and make him a more independent and driven individual.

Children nowadays use their fingers more than their hands and chat more than talk. “Gadget hygiene is very important when it concerns children. One of the most important thing is to give your cell phone but do not gift it to them. Make sure when your child is having food, he does not use any gadgets. Kids should be pushed for outdoor games rather than handing them video games” said Dr Harish Shetty, psychiatrists at L H Hiranandani Hospital.
