Finally, after almost 24 hours after the Mumbai Bridge Collapse accident, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has fixed responsibility against the concern officers of the BMC.

Ajoy Mehta had asked the chief engineer to inquire and submit a report within 24 hours. The chief engineer submitted his report and has recommended action against two engineers and two retired officers of the BMC.

The Cheif Enginner’s report stated:

  • Action to be taken against A.R. Patil, executive engineer and S.F. Kalukate, assistant engineer
  • An inquiry to be initiated against the two retired officers namely S.O. Kori, the then chief engineer and R.B.Tare, the then deputy chief engineer (Bridges).
  • The civic body will soon send a notice to the company who had done the structural audit of the pedestrian bridge.

The chief engineer has submitted his report to the BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta. The BMC has also issued a show cause notice to the company who had done the structural audit of the bridge.

The CST bridge collapse tragedy struck yesterday evening around 7:35 pm, when the central portion of the bridge came crashing down. According to BMC’s public relations officer, 31 people were injured while 6 died due to the incident. Many patients were admitted to the nearby located hospitals, such as St George and GT Hospital.
