Dr Deepak Amarapurkar’s death came as a severe jolt to many, not only those within the medical fraternity, but also to others, like his patients and friends who were touched by him in a way . Shocked by his untimely death, Dr Amarapurkar’s friends and colleagues from the medical fraternity say it is an irreplaceable loss to both patients and medical field.
After he was missing for more than 36 hours, the body of Dr Deepak Amarapurkar, city’s eminent gastroenterologist, was found in Worli, today morning. On August 29, after finishing seeing patients at Bombay Hospital, Dr Amarapurkar had left around 4:30 pm for home at Prabhadevi.
Due to waterlogging in Parel area near India Bulls Centre One, Dr Amarapurkar asked his driver to get the car home and he started walking. Mumbai Fire Brigade team had started search operations in sewerage drains in the area he went missing from.
The incident has left citizens in shock and despair. Many used social media platform to express their grief over the loss of such scholarly doctor and held BMC responsible for the incident.
