On Tuesday, October 29, A Ramya, a 17-year-old girl took charge as Commissioner of Police Rachakonda, Telangana. This would surely sound strange to you, right? You will think to yourself, how can a teenager become the Commissioner of Police?
A Ramya, who is bravely battling with blood cancer (leukaemia), had wished to become a Commissioner of Police for a day. And, her wish was fulfilled by Commissioner of Police Rachakonda, IPS Mahesh Bhagwat. She is currently receiving treatment from NIMS Punjagutta Hyderabad.
A Ramya, who is currently studying in the 2nd year MPC intermediate, took charge as Commissioner of Police Rachakonda on October 29. And she spent the entire day supervising the functioning of the police force.
While taking a charge as Commissioner of Police Rachakonda, A Ramya, stated, “My first objective is to create a friendly police atmosphere in Rachakonda Commissionerate. Controlling the law and order and ensuring the safety of women would be her focus.”
According to Rachokonda police, ‘Make a Wish’ foundation had approached commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagwat, presenting him with the wish of A Ramya.
While speaking to My Medical Mantra Commissioner of Police Rachakonda, Mahesh Bhagwat said, “A Ramya, a 12th standard student, is currently battling with blood cancer and is undergoing treatment for the same. She had wished to become police chief for a day. ‘Make a Wish foundation’ had approached us with her wish, and were delighted to fulfil her wish.”
“Our officers briefed her about law and order situation, women safety measures undertaken by the police department. She was very happy to hold a charge of a commissioner for a day. A Ramya is an athlete and wants to become an engineer,” added Bhagwat.
