Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH) is known across the country for all the right reasons. Adding another feather to its cap, a three day conference was organised on ‘Evidence Based Management of cancer in India.’ There were multiple world leaders who participated in the conference.
At the oration ceremony of the event, a handbook was released. “I thank everyone for coming here and spending quality time. The book launch will help a lot of professionals,” said Dr Rajendra Badwe, Director, Tata Memorial Centre.
The handbook will be available for the help of oncologists. “Cancer is a complex disease. The disease is still not well understood and treatment is still evolving. In such a situation, the management strategy can be very confusing to clinicians. To take care of that, TMH has prepared simple guidelines for practitioners. Such efforts not only help doctors but also allow patients to choose the correct treatment,” said Dr Pankaj Chaturvedi, Professor, Surgical Oncology Tata Memorial Hospital and head and neck cancer surgeon.
This year’s conference focuses on head and neck cancers with organising Secretaries being Dr Prathamesh Pai, Dr Sarbani Ghosh Laskar, Dr Kumar Prabhash.
“Immunology and immunotherapy in oncology is a fairly new concept in the world. I launched the first ever Indian society of immunology and immunotherapy at TMH,” said Dr Kailash Sharma, Academic Director of TMH.
