Soon: Cycle ambulances to be launched in Mumbai

After the successful reception received by bike ambulances in the Mumbai, it has been decided that cycle ambulances will be started in the city on an experimental basis. This decision was taken by Maharashtra health minister Deepak Sawant. It is aimed at providing emergency medical services to senior citizens


  • The Maharashtra government plans to start bicycle ambulances on a pilot basis which will have paramedics carrying medicine kits for senior citizens
  • Currently, there are 20 motorcycle ambulances in the city.
  • Since the launch of bike ambulance service, in last two year, these ambulances have received more than 1,500 calls.
  • It will be started in Vile Parle and Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Maharashtra health minister Deepak Sawant said, ““Bike ambulance is proving a life savior in Mumbai. So in second phase we are planning to start it in Pune,Thane,  Nagour and Nashik. In order to help the senior citizens we have started the cycle Ambulance”

He added, “Initially these cycle ambulance will be placed in Vile Parle east and Shivaji park, Dadar. Paramedical staff has been specifically trained for this”
