Jahannara Nazim Shaikh, grabbed the eyeballs after she delivered quadruplets at once, in August, at Sir JJ Group of hospitals, Mumbai. The mother of four couldn’t believe and her happiness knew no bounds. After the birth of her four babies – 3 girls and one boy, her life has changed completely and has become more meaningful.
Jahannara, a 29-year-old Nashik resident was taking treatment at a private hospital in Nashik. She was admitted at Sir JJ Group of hospitals, for hyperemesis and detected to have quadruplet gestation which was a spontaneous conception. She followed up regularly in ANC clinic till 24 weeks and was admitted for safe confinement.
Jahannara went in spontaneous labor on august 7 at 34 weeks of gestation and underwent a cesarean delivery. She was operated by carried out by Dr Preeti Lewis.
Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Jahannara’s husband Nazim Shaikh said, “Her sonography revealed, she was carrying quadruplets. Doctors in the Nashik told that my wife’s life can be in danger and suggested me to admit her in Mumbai’s Sir JJ group of hospitals. After which, I admitted her to Sir JJ Group of hospitals. And Doctor Preeti Lewis treated her.”
He added, “Since past three months, my wife is taking treatment and I couldn’t go home. My wife became pregnant after six years of our marriage and I was afraid as her life was in danger. By god’s grace, she is fine now.”
Four babies boy weighing 1.85 kg and 3 girls weighing 950 gms, 1.2 kg and 1.4 kg respectively were delivered. 3 babies went to NICU and were taken care of by the paediatrician for one month. Dr Ashok Anand, head of department, gynaecologist, Sir JJ Group of hospitals said, “The lady was admitted in the month of June for the treatment and she underwent a cesarean delivery and was treated for a month. She was discharged yesterday.”
Speaking to My Medical Mantra Dr Preeti Lewis, gynaecologist, Sir JJ Group of hospitals said, “The patient had come from Nashik for the treatment. She was admitted in the hospital, since, travelling could have been dangerous for her. The patient and babies are fine after a successful delivery. This incident occurs in 1 from 7 lakhs pregnant ladies. But instead of fearing, if the lady receives a proper treatment, then, there is no harm to her life.”
The woman is hale and hearty and has been discharged yesterday, along with the babies, who now weigh, boy- 2 kg, girl -1.9 gms and 2 girls- 1.8 gms.
