It was supposed to be an event which was going to be a happy reunion for a few colleagues, but in a tragic twist of fate, out of the 34 picnickers only one survived the tragic bus accident

Narrating the fatal horrific accident, which claimed 33 lives, Prakash Sawant-Desai said, “The bus skidded on loose sand which was on the road and we fell into a gorge.”

Recalling his moments of horror, Prakash Sawant the sole survivor, said, “I was holding on to a branch of a tree, I didn’t know what would happen next. I was just trying to hold on to it with a firm grip. With a hope, that branch will not break. Had the branch broken, I too would have died. Whether it was sand, mud or stone, I grabbed on to anything which would help me climb up and out of the gorge”

Prakash Sawant-Desai, a 54-year-old who is the an additional Agriculture Superintendent, of Dapoli-Konkan Agriculture University is a lone survivor of the horrific accident which claimed 33 lives in Raigad, Maharashtra.
