While the temperature in Pune has been fluctuating from intense cold to unrelenting heat, doctors have been witnessing a rise in cases of viral fever across the city. Doctors stated that people need to take precautionary measures in order to avoid health issues which are brought on due to the onset of summer.

They said that the immunity of patients is compromised due to constantly changing temperatures, as the body has to adapt to a certain temperature.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Mahaveer Modi, a chest physician from Pune, said, “We are receiving more cases of people suffering from bronchitis infection. People tend to mistake it for a common cough and cold. But unlike common cough and cold bronchial infections take more time to get cured.”

Doctors said that it takes time for the body to develop immunity to the change in weather conditions. They advise patients to follow a healthy balanced diet and to exercise regularly.

While Dr Smita Soni, a general physician from Pune, said, “Viral fever cases have risen to around 10 to 20 per cent in the viral fever related cases. Patients are coming forward with symptoms of cough, a runny nose and fever in these past few days, which have witnessed fluctuations in temperature.”
