For most of us plastic surgery still remains an unaffordable procedure. To address this, a free mega camp will be organised on different dates in districts of Maharashtra in the month of December.
A Non-Governmental Organisation has organised free plastic surgery camp in different parts of Maharashtra. The NGO has tied up with civil hospitals and private hospitals in the state where free plastic surgeries would be performed.
The camp will be held at D Y Patil hospital in Kolhapur, Nashik Civil Hospital, Ahmednagar Civil Hospital, Sancheti Hospital in Pune and MGM hospital in Aurangabad would be organised on dates spread out during the course of the month.
Surgeries for cleft-lips, facial scars, and outer deformities of nose, ear and eyelids would be performed by experts in the field.
All the government schools in the state have also tied up with the NGO for camp. The children studying in these schools that are need plastic surgery but cannot afford will also be benefited. All the schools in Maharashtra have been informed to send such children for the camp.
The surgeries performed at the camp will be to address birth deformities in children like joint fingers, absent fingers, missing fingers, too many fingers, abnormal fingers, hand, leg, spastic paralysis, burn contractures, deformities of the body due to accidents, disfiguring of face like ear, nose, chin, lip or neck, heavy marks, scars, moles on body etc. and many more similar issues.
Shashikant Munot, convenor of Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana, (BJS), an NGO which has organised the camp, said, “These surgeries are costly and common man lives his life without it getting treated because of lack of money. This is the main motive behind organising this camp.”
