Pune building collapse: Five injured, two suspected to be trapped

Eight people have been rescued while one child is still feared trapped inside a two-storey building. The building was 30 years old and it was served a notice by Pune Municipal Corporation. A rescue operation underway

The incident has been reported from near Keshavnagar. The injured have been rushed to the hospital.

Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Prakash Gore, a fire brigade official said, “The incident occurred around 12 p.m., at Shambhaji Chowk in Keshavnagar, Mundhwa. Five officials from the fire brigade have been deployed at the spot. It is a two-storey building, where two families have been living, there is a cattle shed below the building. The building is located near a nullah. It is estimated that the building titled and caved in due to heavy rains. One child is feared to be trapped inside. Around 7-8 injured persons have been taken to Sassoon Hospital.”

According to reports, Pune district normally receives about 469.8 mm rainfall in these two months, but this year, it has already received 575.8 mm rain till July 18. The IMD has forecasted that Pune district may witness light to moderate rain till July 24.
