Patients to get medical advice, counselling under one roof at JJ Hospital

Mumbai’s state-run Sir JJ Group of Hospital and Grant Medical College has started a community service department for the patients. The community service department will exclusively work for benefit of the patients. It will facilitate them to get the state-of-art Medicare service  


From today onwards, poor patients who come to seek treatment at Mumbai’s state-run Sir JJ Group of Hospital will receive thorough counselling which will help the patients have a better management of the disease. And also, inform and make the relatives aware about the patient’s health condition

The new community service department was inaugurated by Dr Ajay Chandanwale, Dean of Sir JJ Group of Hospital on Tuesday, January 22.

While inaugurating the community service department, Dean Dr Ajay Chandanwale, said, “This department will be a boon for the patients who are seeking treatment in the hospital. It will be very beneficial for them. Patients and the relatives would also be counselled regarding how they can arrange the finances. This will surely help improve communication with the patients. Also, the department will work for the effective utilisation of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.”

According to the doctors, the community service department will favourable for the patients.

Dr Mandkeshwar, Deputy Dean of Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, Medical Superintendent, Dr Sanjay Surase, Trusty of Jeevan Jyot Foundation Harakhchand Sawala, and members of TATA hospital were also present for the inauguration.

Dattatray Vibhute has been appointed and given the charge of the community service department at the hospital.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dattatray Vibhute, HOD of social service department at JJ Hospital, stated, “This department will be of use to the patients who visit the hospital. It will surely be beneficial for them. Through this department, the CSR fund will be utilised in an effective way. This department will help fulfil the patients counselling, rehabilitation, and treatment needs. This department will have 15 social worker superintendents working in it.”
