Mumbai most iconic festival, which honours Lord Ganesha, is here. The excitement is highly visible as Mumbaikars participated in welcoming bappa with open hearts. From various themes like eco-friendly, film to social messages, you will get to see all in famous Ganesh Pandals.
Parel’s G D Ambekar Marg (Kalewadi) Sarvjanik Ganeshotsav Mandal has grabbed the eyeballs this year by setting up an appealing theme, which stresses on the importance of organ donation.
The motto behind this theme is to create awareness on organ donation. G D. Ambekar (Kalewadi) has jointly organized this year’s Ganeshotsav’s theme. This marks the third year of the mandal.
Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Rakesh Hande, Mandal’s president said, “Though the government is taking efforts to create awareness regarding organ donation but still, people fail to understand its importance and don’t come forward and donate organs. Due to which, many people are still losing their lives. One organ donor can save eight lives. So this year, our theme is organ donation, in order to encourage it amongst the people.”
He further said, “During the Ganesh festival, Ganesh Mandal has put up posters and boards displaying the information regarding organ donation. Apart from this, one day special programme on organ donation will be conducted by an expert doctor from Apex Kidney Foundation. Organ donation registration form will also be provided to those who are keen on doing it.”
An unhealthy lifestyle adopted at a young age is also a cause for organ damage. Though organ donation is an option for it, there is a lack of awareness regarding it. Organ donation and transplantation can save lives. And still many people are waiting to get an organ in order to begin a new life. This theme was implemented with a view to educate people on the topic organ donation.
