It is good news for all those who are looking forward to be treated by Padma Shri Dr TP Lahane who handed over the dean’s post of Sir JJ Hospital to continue as Joint Director of Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Maharashtra.
From Monday onwards, the renowned ophthalmologist of the country, Dr TP Lahane will continue seeing patients at JJ Hospital along with his work as joint director.
While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Lahane said, “The biggest service, for me is serving the patients. I will continue to treat patients with same dedication as joint Director of DMER. I am happy that the government has allowed and supported me to continue my service as a doctor.”
“From Monday onwards, Dr Lahane has been given the permission to visit the OPD and treat patients at JJ hospital. Post afternoon, he will be working for Directorate of Medical Education,” said Dr Pravin Shingare, director, Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER).
Furthermore, Dr Lahane has been allotted the permission to continue conducting health camps across Maharashtra.
Dr Lahane has been the dean of the esteemed state run medical college for the last seven years and eight months. He completed 22 years of service to the hospital as an ophthalmologist; head of the ophthalmology department and later as dean of the hospital. He had handed over the dean charge to Dr SD Nanandkar on October 5, 2017.
Dr Lahane is known for his cataract operation camps and holds the Limca Book of Records for the most of such operations. He is known for many of his achievements and efforts at the hospital. On June 10, 2010, Dr Lahane first initiated the cleanliness drive in the hospital. With the launch of this campaign, every year, Sir JJ Hospital has succeeded in becoming the cleanest hospital.
