But, this routine bike ride to the college, proved to be fatal for him as he met with an accident and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

The youth, who hailed from Mumbai, suffered severe brain injuries and was declared brain-dead by the doctors at  Wockhardt Hospital, Mira Road, where he was undergoing the treatment.

The doctors counseled the youth’s family and the family decided to donate his organs. The family agreed to donate his heart, both kidneys, and liver. The organs have been sent to different hospitals in Mumbai.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, organ transplant coordinator of the Wockhardt Hospital, Mira Road, Kunal Bachav, said, “The youth was admitted to the hospital with severe head injuries. For two to three days, he was undergoing the treatment. But due to excessive bleeding in the brain, he was declared as brain-dead. The grieving family knew about organ donation, and when the doctors counseled them, they immediately gave their consent to donate his organs.”

Kunal further said, “The youth’s heart has been given to Mulund’s Fortis Hospital, liver and one kidney has been retained with the Wockhardt Hospital, whereas the other kidney has been sent to Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai.”
