Organ donation has become a matter of prime importance. Considering this fact, a wife has donated her husband’s organs in Hamalpura area of Amravati district. The organs of this person helped save three lives.
52-year-old Manoj Gupta, who lived in Hamalpura area of Amravati district, had been admitted to a private hospital for treatment on October 23. He suffered brain hemorrhage and on October 31, he was declared brain-dead.
After being declared as brain-dead, the doctors took permission from his relatives for organ donation. Then, Manoj’s wife decided to donate his organs. Accordingly, his liver and kidneys were donated.
For organ donation, Mumbai’s kidney transplant surgeons Dr Gaurav Chaubey and Dr Somnath Chatopadhyay worked as the coordinator. After two-and-a-half hour of surgery, on November 1, in the evening, liver and kidney were transported to Mumbai via green corridor.
The kidney has been donated to the 34-year-old man at Jupiter Hospital (Thane), who has been waiting for kidney since many years. Liver was given to 54-year-old person. Apart from this, another kidney has been donated to a patient from Hinduja Hospital.
Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Aniruddh Kulkarni, organ transplant coordinator, Jupiter Hospital informed, “Two doctors from Jupiter Hospital went there after a patient was found to be brain-dead in Amravati. After the surgery between 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm the organs was removed and they reached at 6: 10 pm at Mumbai airport.”
Via green corridor, after reaching at Jupiter Hospital at 7:20 pm, a successful kidney and liver transplant was performed. These organs were transported to the Jupiter Hospital in 55 minutes from Kalina to Jupiter Hospital with a special cooperation from the traffic police.
