- Dhanashree Mujmule, a 4-year-old girl from Jalana, Maharashtra, has received a heart on the morning of Friday, June 22
- The heart transplant surgery was done at Fortis Hospital in Mulund.
- Dhanashree was suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy which is an end-stage heart disease.
- As per doctors, Dhanashree’s heart was pumping only 15% and she needed an immediate heart transplant.
“Today I am a very happy man. I can’t find the words to express my feelings. Dhanashree has got a new heart. We had been waiting for this day since a long time. It was an endless wait. But, the wait is now over.”
The smile on the face of Krishna Mujmule, Dhanashree’s father, says a lot. He is visibly emotional, as tears of happiness rolled down from his face. His little angel has got a new lease of life.
While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Krishna Mujmule said, “I can see this life-changing day, all because of the donor family. I will be indebted forever to the donor family for what they have done to save Dhanashree. I am grateful to Dr Anway Mule without whom this would not be possible, and all the doctors and staff members of Fortis Hospital. After the surgery, she has been kept in the ICU under observation for 36 to 48 hours. They have saved the life of my daughter.”
While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr S Narayani, Zonal Director of Fortis Hospital, Mulund, said, “We all are delightful. That the little child, Dhanashree has got a heart.”
Dhanashree has been on the waiting list for the heart transplant for the past 14 months.
“I have no words, I am thankful to all of those who have helped me during the tough time. The past 14 months tested us a lot, now my daughter has got a second chance at life.”
