In a press statement, Dr Padmaja Keskar, Executive Health Officer, BMC, stated, “In 2018 from January to October, 17 cases of swine flu were recorded. So far, the H1N1 virus has not claimed any lives in Mumbai. The cases are scattered and without any clustering in a particular area.”

She added, “There is no significant difference among males and females and cases are widely dispersed between the age group of 15 to 60 years.”

Apart from the prevalence of the H1N1 virus, 3,875 cases of dengue like illnesses were admitted from October 1st to 31st in the year 2018. As compared to 3,293 dengue patients in October 2017. There have been no cases of cholera this month.
