Obesity: Sassoon Hospital starts a dedicated clinic

Obesity means having too much body fat. Obesity increases your risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke and so on and reduces the quality of life. To tackle it, Pune’s Sassoon Hospital has started a dedicated obesity clinic


Today, the awareness regarding the obesity related diseases is increasing. The good news is that you can take steps to lose weight. And losing even some weight can make a big difference to your health and how you feel. As, the government hospitals are coming forward to offer treatment for the same.

Now, Sassoon Hospital in Pune, has started a dedicated obesity clinic. This clinic will give treatment to cure Body, Mass, Index (BMI) related issues and surgical options to reduce the weight.

Dr Ajay Chandanwale, dean of Sassoon Hospital Pune, said, “Around 40 per cent of the people in India are affected by obesity related diseases and it is therefore necessary that even government hospitals should have these facilities.”

He added, “Diseases like blood pressure, diabetes, hyper tension, polysistic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and acidity, which are associated with obesity can be treated if the obesity is kept under check. Due to which, the Sassoon Hospital has started a dedicated clinic.”
