Generally children demand chocolates or toys from parents, But, Shweta Rangari, a resident of Yavatmal’s Indarathana zilha, demanded to construct a toilet in the house. She refused to go to school till her father doesn’t construct a toilet. Her father was shocked and constructed a toilet within a week.
Shweta studies in 4 th standard in Indrathana ZP school. in the school, a book on ‘Swachh Bharat Mission,’ was given. In which, the school students were given the information about cleanliness and a completion was also organised.
This included columns like drink boiled water, washing hands before eating, use toilets, and washing hands with soap thoroughly, after using toilets. And after doing it, the students were supposed to tick mark the columns. Since, there was no toilet in Shweta’s house, here columns were blank.
Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Shweta said, “There were various programmes organised under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. In the drawing competition, we were asked to draw a toilet’s picture which is located inside or outside the house. How would I draw? Since, there was no toilet in my house. Due to which, I refused to go to school, till the time there is no toilet constructed in the house.”
She added, “Teachers inquired as I didn’t go to school. So, I told that till the time there is no toilet constructed in the house. I will not go to school.”
After Shweta’s warning, within a week, her father constructed a toilet. Pandit Rangari, Shweta’s father said, “I asked her why she is not going to school? To which she replied, that she won’t go to school, till I construct a toilet. After which, we have constructed a toilet.”
Raju Kendre, officer-in-charge, Chief Minister Gramvikas Fellow said, “Shweta asked her father to construct a toilet. Now, the other school children are demanding to construct toilet at their homes. Shweta will be an inspiration to others.”
