After spending 82 days, in Mumbai’s Saifee Hospital, Eman Ahmed, once considered as world’s heaviest woman, has finally begun her journey to Abu Dhabi from Mumbai.
Eman was brought down from her 7th floor room for the first time after she was admitted to Saifee Hospital in a special moving bed on which she was kept for last 82 days. Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, who had performed bariatric surgery on Eman, was present there with the Burjeel Hospital team.
After a short delay due to completion of paperwork formalities, Eman is now on her way to Mumbai international airport, from where she will be flown to Abu Dhabi by a special Egypt air cargo flight. The special flight is scheduled to take off around 4.30 today evening.
But, Eman’s departure has been an eventful day for the doctors who have been attending her for over two months now.
As the team of Saifee doctors were preparing for Eman’s departure, around 9.45am, Burjeel Hospital’s team arrived at Saifee Hospital. Both, Saifee and the Burjeel doctors had a meeting to discuss about Eman’s departure.
But, due to the technical difficulties, her departure got delayed. To supervise her smooth shifting, Maharashtra’s Health Minister Dr Deepak Sawant arrived at Saifee to take a stock of the situation.
A team of Burjeel Hospital doctors, who are going to accompany Eman on the Egypt air airbus 300, also arrived this morning to Saifee Hospital.
Earlier, when Eman’s sister Shaimaa had levelled allegations on Dr Muffazal Lakdawala and the team for not taking due care of Eman, Dr Sawant had given a clean chit to Dr Lakdawala praising his work. Eman who had come to India for her obesity treatment weighing 500kg, is set to leave India at a drastic weight reduction at 170kg.
