In an engaging session on ultrasound guided pain intervention in Neuro Rehabilitation,
Dr Navita Purohit from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH) spoke about basics of ultrasound at the 10th Congress of the World Federation of Neuro Rehabilitation (WFNR). Each session at the conference was filled with enthusiasm among the guests and the audience.
Here, she covered topics ranging from basic principles and applications, application of US physics – transducer selection, probe handling and scanning techniques, principles of injections, needle identifications and needle positioning.
“Now interventions are becoming part of treating patients. Hence, neuro rehab is about comprehensive management. If you do an ultrasound guided intervention, you can find the root cause of the pain,” said Dr Navita Purohit, consultant pain medicine and expert in Ultrasound guided interventional Pain Management.
On being asked about the importance of such conferences, she explained, “In conferences like these, there are delegates from all over the world. They share their work, studies, experiences and knowledge. Young physiatrists learn a lot through this. This is a medium of dissipating and learning new things.”
She added, “This is the first time that the conference is being held in Southeast Asia and this is a big step for neurological rehab experts.”
