‘Music helps me to unwind’

Doctors are responsible for taking care of the patient’s well-being. Also, they often find it challenging to keep up with their fitness regime. But, Dr Rajshri Katke, medical superintendent and gynaecologist at Cama and Albless Hospital, who swears by her fitness routine, reveals that music is like a stress-buster for her

Dr Rajshri Katke, medical superintendent and gynaecologist at Cama and Albless Hospital said, “Music takes away all my stress. I love listening to music as it relaxes me. It heals me mentally and emotionally, as well as rejuvenates me.”

Dr Katke’s fitness routine:

  • She wakes up at 6:00 am
  • Walks for 2 hours
  • Practices yoga and pranayama

Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Katke said, “Firstly, doctors should be fit in order to treat the patients. Only then, the patients can be treated properly.  For this, it is essential to follow a proper fitness routine. One should exercise to be fit. Also, keep an optimistic approach towards life. Everyone experiences stress at some or the other point. Learn to love your work. We also preach this to the young aspiring doctors. Loving your work makes the work  easier.”

She added, “Many people love seafood but give it up due to dieting. But, I like seafood and I eat it. But, I make sure that I don’t go overboard. So, eat in minimal quantity. And eat what you like.”

Dr Katke signed off by saying, “Music helps me to calm myself. It gives me immense satisfaction and peace. A person can tackle any situation if he/she is mentally strong.”
