Mumbai witnesses organ donation of an 82-year-old brain-dead woman 

The family of an elderly woman consented to donate her liver after she was declared brain-dead, this act of generosity helped give a new lease of life to two patients who were waiting for an organ transplant. This marked Mumbai 39th organ donation, so far this year


The organ donation took place on Saturday, September 15 at Jupiter Hospital. The patient was an 82-year-old woman who suffered a brain haemorrhage and was soon after declared brain-dead.

The aggrieved relatives of the patient were counselled by the doctors and they consented to donate her organs.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Anirudh Kulkarni, ZTCC coordinator at Jupiter Hospital stated that her liver was retrieved and donated to a waitlisted patient in Jupiter Hospital itself.
