Mumbai: Police officers felicitated for saving election officer’s life

On Monday, October 21, the day when Maharashtra went to the polls an untoward incident took place at the Malabar Hill polling station. An election officer on duty suddenly suffered from a heart attack. Quick thinking and the presence of mind of a police sub-inspector ultimately saved his life. The gesture of the police officer helped the man when it was a matter of life and death


On October 21, 2019, the day when Maharashtra went to the polls, an election duty officer posted at Malabar hill polling centre suddenly suffered a heart attack, he was dizzy and collapsed on duty. Police sub-inspector (PSI) Suryavanshi and constable Girkar, swung into action and helped save his life in the nick of time.

The sub-inspector lifted him and carried him from the polling booth to the police van and admitted him to JJ Hospital. His presence of mind saved the life of the election officer.


PSI Suryavanshi has been appreciated and felicitated by the Mumbai collector.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Mumbai Collector Shivaji Jondhale, said, “On the day of the Maharashtra assembly polls an election officer suffered a massive heart attack, two cops who were posted on duty showed immense presence of mind and admitted the election officer in hospital at the right time, this has saved a precious life. We are proud of them and have felicitated them for this noble act.”
