Mumbai plane crash: ‘Today was going to be his first day at work’

On Thursday, as the chartered plane crashed in an open area in Ghatkopar, Prasad Mahakal, was watching the incident unfold on TV. As he lived nearby he decided to rush to the spot of the accident to lend a helping hand.

While helping the people around him, he injured his right leg with a metal plate that had broken away from the plane, he a cut wound at his right ankle. He was admitted to Rajawadi Hospital, doctors at the hospital said he will need a minor surgery for the tendon tear on the right ankle.

Namdev More, his uncle said, “After hearing about the incident on the news, he rushed to the spot to help people and got injured. He has wounded his leg, but he is lucky that he didn’t get any major injuries.”

His younger brother, Pradeep Mahakal said, “He was admitted to Rajawadi Hospital at 6:30 p.m., he was helping someone, when he got injured. He was going to start his first day at work today at a private company.  But now, he will have to undergo an operation. We might shift him to a private hospital for the tendon tear operation.
