Mumbai: Part of the foot overbridge collapses, 5 injured

A part of a foot overbridge has collapsed near Andheri station, Mumbai, on Tuesday morning. 5 passengers have been injured in this accident. The injured people have been admitted to Mumbai's civic-run Cooper hospital

  • On Tuesday, a part of the foot overbridge near Andheri railway station, Mumbai, collapsed 
  • Dr Ganesh Shinde, Dean of the Civic-run Cooper hospital confirmed that 5 people have been injured  
  • Due to the incident, the western railway services between Bandra to Goregaon have been shut 
  • The accident has left thousands of office-goers stranded on the railway stations
  • The Mumbai Fire Brigade and the Police have started the search and rescue operation
On Tuesday, around 7.30 AM, a part of a foot overbridge collapsed on the railway tracks near Andheri, Mumbai. Due to this, the suburban railway traffic on the western railway has been affected.
While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Ganesh Shinde, Dean of the civic-run Cooper hospital said, “5 injured passengers have been admitted to our hospital. The injured people have suffered head injuries. We have started treatment on them. Out of the five who are admitted, two people are severely injured. The disaster management has informed us that few more injuries are expected.”
According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade Chief, Prabhat Rahandale, “A part of the foot overbridge has fallen on the railway tracks near Andheri station. The search and rescue operation is in progress.”
While speaking to the press BJP MP Kirit Somaiya said, “The railway and fire brigade officers have told me that one person has been trapped under the debris. He is alive and the fire brigade team is sure about saving his life.”
