Mumbai: Organ donation dindi to spread awareness about cadaver donation

Three generations of a family meet in an operation theatre

  • 40 volunteers from Apex Kidney Foundation will take part in the march. They will distribute the organ donation pledge form and try and make people aware of the organ donation.
  • In India, only 0.58 per million people donate the organs. While the waiting list of those who are in dire need of the organs in huge.
  • In order to spread awareness amongst the masses, the Apex Kidney Foundation will take out a march to spread awareness about organ donation.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Ranjita Parab, who works with Apex Kidney Foundation said, “People have a number of misconceptions about organ donation. Through this organ donation dindi, we will try and make people aware of the organ donation. With the help of the placards and boards, we will spread awareness through various messages.”

She further added, “We will be carrying organ donation pledge forms with us. We will encourage people to come forward and pledge their organs.”

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Jatin Kothatri, senior nephrologist and treasurer-trustee of Apex Kidney Foundation, “At one go, we can spread a word about organ donation to thousands of people. Our aim is to make Maharashtra No.01 state in India for organ donation. We have a team of volunteers who will march in the Organ Donation Dindi; they will spread awareness amongst the masses. The organisation wants the message of organ donation to reach each and every individual.”
