- ‘Confining to the wheel chair doesn’t mean the end of life. Mumbai Marathon gave me new hope to live. It gave me a new lease of life’, are the words of Vidya Kadam who participated in the Mumbai Marathon.
- Since last two years, Vidya without fail comes to Mumbai from Satara, to participate in the Mumbai Marathon.
- In an accident in 2012, Vidya lost her legs.
Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Vidya said, “After my accident, I was shattered and I couldn’t work. But, my brother told me that many people like me participate in the Mumbai Marathon. So, in the year 2016, I participated in the Marathon for the first time and I felt nice. There were many people like me. Even though they were physically challenged, they were optimistic to live. They aspired me, after which, I started participating.”
Vidya was accompanied by her sister Reshma. Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Reshma said, “Every year, we accompany Vidya to participate in the Marathon. We feel nice here. Small children who are confined to wheel chair participate. They have a different prospective to life.”
