Mumbai: Four accused arrested in doctors’ assault case

The accused are arrested under the Assault on Medicare Act and various sections of the IPC, including rioting sections

  • Two junior resident doctors attached to state-run Sir JJ hospital were attacked by angry relatives on Saturday.
  • Taking a swift action, the Mumbai Police have arrested four accused in this case 
  • The accused have been booked under various sections  of the IPC section as well as Medicare Act

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, DCP Zone-1 Mumbai, Manoj Kumar Sharma, said, “We have arrested four accused in connection with the doctors’ assault case. We have booked the accused under Medicare Act. Also, the accused are booked under section 353, 332, 324, 427, 141,142,143 of the IPC and a case has been registered under the rioting act as well.”

While speaking to My Medical Mantra Dr Niranjan Chavan, Co-convener and member of FOGSI-Voilence Against Doctors Cell said, “We condemn this assault on the resident doctors of JJ hospital. The attack on  doctors are rising in the country. Our demand is that the state government should increase security in JJ hospital.  The police should take stern action against the accused.”
