Mumbai: Cama and Albless hospital adjudged as city’s best state-run Hospital

The Maharashtra government had constituted a committee of 35 MLA’s, to conduct surprise checks in the state and civic-run hospitals in Mumbai. The committee has adjudged Mumbai’s Cama and Albless hospital, as the best government hospital in the city


  • The surprise check was conducted on various aspects such as cleanliness, doctor’s availability and the doctor-patient relationship.
  • The committee had visited 4 major and 16 peripheral hospitals in Mumbai to conduct the survey.
  • The state constituted committed has submitted its report to the government.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Vidya Chavan, an MLC from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and a member of the state appointed committee said, “Women and child welfare department had constituted this committee. The survey was conducted during the months of February and March. With Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals, we visited 4 major and 16 peripheral hospitals in the city. We had done this survey with prior intimation to check if there are any flaws in the healthcare system.”

Vidya Chavan further added, “The food which was being served to the patients was of a good quality. And cleanliness was also maintained in the hospitals. But, Cama Hospital was judged as the best hospital overall on all counts.”

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Rajashree Katke, Medical superintendent of the Cama and Albless Hospital said, “Patients from remote villages in Maharashtra visit Cama and Albless Hospital with a hope of being treated. And our motto is to serve the people, with the best healthcare facilities and a human touch. We have a special maternity centre, sonography centre, and other state-of-the-art facilities and these are available for the patients at affordable costs.”

Cama and Albless hospital has been judged as the best state-run hospital in the city on four aspects such as cleanliness, clean and healthy kitchen, clean wards and proper patient care.
