Mumbai: 4 dead, 5 injured as building catches fire

On Thursday morning, four people died and five were injured after the third floor of Mehmud building, Shivaji Nagar, Church Road in Andheri East caught fire

  • Fire Confined to electric wiring , electric installation, household articles and etc in room no 306 on third floor of a ground plus upper four floored residential building.
  • The cause of fire is not known yet.

After the Kamala Mills tragedy in which 14 people lost their lives in a fire at a pub, another shocking mishap took place at Andheri East on Thursday morning. As, four people died and five were injured after the third floor of Mehmud building, Shivaji Nagar, Church Road in Andheri East caught fire.

As per Prabhat Rahangdale, chief fire officer, Mumbai Fire Brigade, “Four people rescued from 3rd floor and admitted to the Dr RN Cooper Municipal General Hospital.  5 people were rescued from the 4th floor and were admitted to the Holy Spirit Hospital with the help of the ambulance and the Fire Brigade.  8 people were rescued from the 4th and 2nd floor safely. Overall,  17 people were rescued.”

He added, “Four lost their lives  out of which, 2 were male and 2  were female. Whereas, Five were admitted to the Holy Spirit Hospital, out of which  3 were male and 2 were female. However,  1 female has been discharged after the treatment.”
