Mumbai: 16 kids in Bhandup school fall ill due to food poisoning

An incident of a food poisoning was reported from a school at Bhandup in Mumbai. The exact cause behind the food poisoning has yet to be ascertained. A teacher has also fallen ill due to the same


  • The children are students of Sahayadri Vidyamandir, near Shivaji Maharaj Talao in Bhandup, Mumbai.
  • According to information provided by the municipal corporation’s disaster department, the kids and the teacher have been admitted to Mulund’s civic-run Agarawal hospital.

While Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Gayatri Patil, Chief Medical Officer of civic-run Gayatri hospital said, “On Thursday morning, we received a call from the school authorities that the kids are complaining of vomiting and stomach ache. We have administered antibiotics to them, and their condition is now stable.”


Dr Patil further added, “On Thursday, morning the kids were given rice and dal. But, half an hour after consuming the food the kids started complaining vomiting and stomach ache. The kids are suffering due to food poisoning, but at this preliminary level one cannot identify the exact cause of the poisoning.”
