- The MBBS students protested against the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill at Azad Maidan. The MBBS from the LTMG Sion Hospital, Nair Hospital, Sir JJ Group of Hospitals and KEM Hospital participated in the strike.
- The strike began at 8:00 am in the morning. The MMBS students had put up black ribbons.
- “National Medical Commission (NMC) in the present form is not acceptable to us,” said a statement by Dr Parthiv Sanghvi, State Secretary, IMA.
Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Ajoy Saha, treasurer, IMA-Mumbai, said “We oppose the NMC Bill. Owing to which the IMA has decided to protest and he support it. But, the emergency services are on.”
He added, “The National Medical Commission bill is anti-poor, anti-people, non-representative, undemocratic and anti-federal in character. Therefore, the bill should be amended and more doctors should be included in the committee.”
