- To take action against the one indulging in the milk adulteration, Food and Drug Administration Maharashtra had undertaken a campaign from January 16 to 22.
- An inspection of small milk suppliers, process centres and the private dairy’s was carried out.
- Under this campaign, 127 vehicles which supply milk to Mumbai were inspected.
In totality, the FDA officials have inspected 8,62,489 litres of milk. As per the information received from the FDA officials, 2,716 litres of milk from 2 vehicles was not as per the standard of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. 742 milk samples have been sent to the laboratory. And an action will be taken after the report is generated.
Speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Pallavi Darade, Maharashtra FDA Commissioner said, “During Diwali, action on the adulterated milk products is taken. This campaign was undertaken after the complaints of the milk adulteration. 742 suspected milk samples have been seized. All these samples have been sent to the laboratory.”
