Maharashtra’s Chief Information Commissioner, CIC, Ratnakar Gaikwad, who was brutally assaulted by Dalit activists, has sustained a mild fracture, in his 5th rib. Gaikwad was trashed by Dalit activists in Aurangabad on Monday, over the Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan demolition issue.

Ratnakar Gaikwad has been admitted to Bombay Hospital under supervision of Dr Gautam Bhansali, who is a consultant physician attached to the hospital.

Speaking to My Medical Mantra Dr Gautam Bhansali said, “Late evening on Monday, we got Mr Gaikwad admitted to Bombay hospital. He was complaining of severe chest pain when he had come to the hospital. After routine check-ups, and a CT scan we came to know that he has sustained injuries in his ribcage. Though, its’ a mild fracture, we will keep him under observation for next 4 to 5 days,”

Dr Bhansali added, his chest pain has gone down considerably since yesterday, his heart rate is also normal, yesterday due to the injuries he couldn’t move on one side, but now after medication, he can. We have put him on mild painkillers, to reduce his pain.
