Maharashtra: Yavatmal woman gives birth to quadruplets  

A woman delivered four girl children in Maharashtra's Yavatmal district on Sunday. The mother and her four daughters are stable, doctors said


  • Rani Pramod Rathore gave birth to four girls at Vasantrao Naik Medical College.
  • The children were born at 11:45 am at the hospital on Sunday, which was also being observed as Raksha Bandhan across the country.
  • Although the woman had a natural delivery, the children were breech born (feet/bottom first).
  • This is not the woman’s first delivery; she already has a 2-year-old daughter.

While speaking to My Medical Mantra, Dr Manish Srigiriwal, Dean of Vasantrao Naik Medical College, said, “Through her first sonography report we found out that she is expecting four children, after a routine check-up on the June 25, was advised to get hospitalised as her pregnancy needed to be carefully monitored according to her reports then. She was placed under the care of Dr Rohindas Chavan and Dr Srikant Varade.”

He added, “The children weighed 1.200 kgs, the quadruplets were kept under observation in the neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU). The health of both the mother and children is stable now.”
