The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration FDA recently have initiated a state wide campaign. Workshops will be conducted to guide pharmacist and druggist working in chemist shops.
The initiative began on November 19 in Mumbai and will reach out to the districts in Maharashtra. In order to teach chemists and druggist, 150 drug inspectors working in the FDA’s Drugs Department are being trained to guide and assist them.
In Mumbai, the workshops were held in Saifee Hospital and other areas of the city, such as, Khar, Ville Parle and Bhiwandi.
In the districts, so far, the workshops occured in Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Satara, Chandrapur and Sangli. The workshops will eventually cover other districts too.
Informing us about the purpose behind organising these workshops, Dr Pallavi Darade, Maharashtra FDA Commissioner, said, “We are going to spread awareness about the Drugs and Cosmetics Act among pharmacists in Maharashtra. Apart from this, we will teach them how to communicate with patients, how to process bills and others such aspects will be taught to them via a power point presentation.”
