Maharashtra: 302 people died due to swine flu since January

Pune, Nashik, and Satara districts of Maharashtra are the worst affected districts. The incidence of the H1N1 virus is rising, caution doctors

  • Till date, 2,375 people have been tested positive for swine flu in the state.
  • 1,775 patients have been discharged. While 600 patients are currently admitted to the hospital, 33 have been put on the ventilator.
  • Swine flu cases have been increasing rapidly by the day.

Dr Pradeep Awate, Nodal Officer infectious disease, Maharashtra, stated, “From January to October this year, we have witnessed 2,375 patients of swine flu, out of which 600 are still undergoing treatment in the hospital. 33 patients who are critically ill have been put on the ventilator.”

Dr Awate further said, “In order to curb the spread of the swine flu, the state government has issued a few guidelines. This protocol has been designed by the expert committee. How to manage the patient who is in the ICU? What medications should be given to those who are suffering from illness such as diabetes, hypertension this all has been explained in the protocol. The protocol has been circulated to all the districts.”
